FAQ Information for Radar Detector Mounts and History

Now for your frequently, and yes I mean frequently asked questions! And I knowwww you have some! :)

1. YES, you have to measure your mirror stem.  I don't know what they all are and they change by manufacturer and model year continuously. Instructions are on front page. Again, YES, you have to measure it.  YES, YES, YES...... Oh, did I say YES!  Don't call me if you haven't measured it!  I get real pissy over this!  

If you measure: .709inches to .768inches or 18MM to 19.5MM you need a 3/4, if you measure: .860inches to  .916 inches  or   21.8MM to 23.3mm you need the 23mm, if you measure: .562inches to  .630inches  or  14.4MM  to 16MM  you need a 5/8 mini mount.  WE are NOT responsible if you order the wrong size.

2. NO, we do not make custom logos anymore.   Sorry, but we got so bogged down in orders we had to stop.

3. Yes, you may return it if you have ordered the wrong size,  so see #1.  But you will be charged for shipping again if you change sizes, and there is a $3 exchange fee. I hate doing that but too many people guess. And it must be in perfect condition and done within 7, Seven, VII,  10 minus 3, days, with ALL parts included. If you just return it........you will receive $39.95/$59/95  back, but we reserve the right to charge a $3 fee on circumstances.  Please email or call so we know the reason why!  If you give me any sort of lame excuses........:)........we reserve the right to charge a 50% return fee.   OUCH!  Especially if it is late.

 We do NOT take back older mounts  because you have changed cars or radar detectors.  That's sorta like taking back underwear because you got too fat for them.  We don't sell "used" stuff.

 Again unfortunately we are going to start charging a $3 exchange fee.   Too many people are ordering the wrong size because, you guessed it!, they did not measure their stems. This takes up time to fix your order.  So pullllleeeese, with sugar and honey on it, measure your stem.   If you order two sizes at one time and return one because you "think" you can do this.........you are WRONG!!!  We will, yes read that again, will charge you $3.00. Why you ask?  Because you are tying up our inventory because you haven't measured!

4.  We only ship Priority Mail. Sorry, no over nights, or UPS, or Fed Ex or Pony/Donkey Express.  Why? Because they cost wayyyyy too much and I'm not running to the post office  just for you, when I have a daily pick up at the business.  I just don't have the time to do this!    Sorry.

It normally takes 3-4 days, BUT sometimes the post office does get slowwwww.  Don't panic. It's the government!  You know how they are!  If you have given me a correct email, the post office will send you a notice when it goes out, umm that is unless they forget, which they have done.  Every purchase is now automatically insured.

5. Chotis Engineering is my husband's business.  He designs and makes race cars and other cool stuff.  But your bill will be under Country Joy, my business, because I'm selling them for him.

6. Yeah, sometimes we run out and ya gotta wait.  It doesn't happen very often though. Sorry about that when it does.

7.  If your mount is too loose, you got the wrong size!  Don't blame the mount, you measured incorrectly! 

8.  If your mount is not level, you haven't adjusted your mirror correctly. Most mirrors adjust from both ends of the mirror stem. You may have to play with placement along the stem to get it in the right position.    And with the escort/bel, you have to bend the suction cup clip that came with your radar unit to level it.

9. Yes, we ship to Canada.  It's about $20.00 to $21.00 for shipping.  And customs can take up to a month!!!  It normally doesn't though.

10.  The mount ONLY comes in one color.  Black.  Please do not ask me for pues with purple pok-a-dots, because it isn't going to happen.  These mounts are not painted.  They are anodized.  This means they will be black foreverrrrrrr.

11.  I answer 'all' emails.   But if you have an email that needs me to go through fruit loops, ..... so I can get a hold of you to answer a question that you have asked..........(as in I have to fill out some form),..... or it bounces back to me because you don't accept emails from scary people,....... or you have given me a fake email .........I guess you ain't gonna hear from me! Yeah spam is a pain in the butt , and I know that is why you put up filters and blocks, but when you are doing business, it's not suppose to be a pain in the butt for 'either' party. So if you don't hear from me, then you are going to have to make it so you can.    Causeeeee it ain't my fault!  

12. If you didn't get a receipt, look in your trash bin.  My bet is it is in there!

13. No we don't give out directions, plans, drawings, or other business proprietary information.  Don't bother asking. Patented means patented.

14.  We reserve the right to refuse shipping and service to any buyer. We also will charge you a 50% restocking fee if you keep buying these and returning them over and over!  or for just being a nuisance!

15.  No, sorry we don't sell wholesale or in bulk.  These are hand crafted and not made in some sleezy foreign country.

16.  I have asked  over and over for a 7 day return policy.  This is not unreasonable and keeps our stock from being out too long.  If you wait over that period, like say a month, there will be a 50% charge on TOP of the $3 exchange.  I really hate doing this, but there are too many people that take advantage.  Remember my pissy flaw.

How the Radar Mount was Born

Once a long time ago in a far away galaxy, my dear hubby bought me a 350z for my birthday............cause I was a really good girl and I'm cute!  

 Then he started buying me "guy presents".......like radar detectors.......knowing full well that HE was going to use them in, uh, my car.  Then he made me a mount to put the detector on, because those lousy suction cups are for the birds.  

Being the mad genius and super hero that he is , he made and came home with a Z mount that would make all other mounts green with envy.    Soon, word got out, and all the other Z owners wanted one too.  Thennnnnn more words got out, and other people in the galaxy wanted one also. 

Thennnnn, yeah there is more, we bought a Mini Cooper because they are as cute as a bugs ear.  Thus the Mini Mount was born too.  Geesh this could go on forever I guess.  And then we came out with the super Z because some people wanted something realllllllllllllllllllllllllly fancy.

So I put them up on my web page to see if they would sell and that is how the Z mount, Mini mount, Super Z and hand painted glass became a co-mingling oddity in the cyber world...... With the best darn mounts you can get.   And some famous and great art stuff to boot.
